Shiner

Do you like Winston's black eye? This happened at the end of January. He actually got it from falling off of a little mini cooler and into a chair. It was probably one of the scariest accidents that has happened at my house. He had a huge goose bump off the side of his head. It turned black like this the next morning.

I was trying to get an updated picture of Winston's eye and Shaelyn insisted I take a picture of her. So she posed.

This is a few days later, it migrated to the bottom of his eye making it look even worse.

I thought this was a cute picture, they actually look like they like each other, lol! Just kidding, they are the best of buds!

I also thought I would give you my first week update.Isn't that awesome, I still can't believe it! A whole 4.6 pounds in one week! I know that most of it is probably water weight and also had to do with yesterday was fast Sunday, but Still! Anyway, here is a healthy recipe that I have come across in a pampered chef recipe book. They are pretty good.

Sweet and Saucy Meatballs
Meatballs
1/4 C chopped onion
1 package (1 1/4 lbs) 93% lean ground turkey
1 egg white
1/4 C seasoned dry bread crumbs
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
1 garlic clove minced
1/2 tsp salt
Sauce (We didn't make the sauce because we didn't have all the ingredients so we used Mr Yoshitas sauce and ketchup mixed together, it was yummy)
1 can (8 oz) jellied cranberry sauce
1/4 C ketchup
1/4 C orange marmalade
2 T Brown Sugar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
Preheat oven to 400 deg. Combine all Meatball ingredients in a bowl. Form 1 inch balls; place in a single layer over bottom of 9X13 pan. Bake 15 minutes; drain.
Meanwhile, combine sauce ingredients, mix well. Pour over meatballs evenly. Return to oven; continue baking 15 minutes.
*If you want to make the meatballs without the sauce just reduce the time to 25 minutes. These would be great in spaghetti

More Snow Day photos

Here is a picture of the sunset in our back yard. So much prettier in person. Shaelyn was coming at me with a snowball.
She got Walter.

The kids cleaned off the slide so they could slide in the snow.

A Little Family Competition

So I think our family is pretty competitive and just yesterday, my brother Aaron and sister Ashley talked me into joining a biggest loser competition, Family style. I am really excited because there is something about sibling rivalry that just gets you pumped. It is also good to know that there are others checking up on you. We are doing a percentage weight loss and the winner gets $20 from each of the losers. I think the prize is at about $80. So the official rules are copied from my sisters blog. They are:
How to win- The person with the highest percentage of weight loss.
How long- We are all going to the family ski trip in august so we decided we have till August 3rd.
The prize: all the losers will give the winner 20$. (so now its at 80$)
Rule #1- take a picture of scale and send it to all the players.... so we don't cheat (I think posting my weight for all to see counts)
Rule #2- be healthy about it! don't be stupid!!

So I am going to try and update regularly. I want to loose the weight by June when I go to Hawaii!

Anyway, I think I keep stalling but I am posting a current picture of my weight, this is probably one of the most embarrassing things I could possibly think of. I do think it is a good incentive to loose weight though and I also promised Ashley that I would. With out further ado: Scary I know, I tried to make the picture as small as possible, this is the smallest that blogger allows. As you can see I need all the help I can get. All support is welcome :) To distract you from the scary number above I have added some videos of Shaelyn playing the piano one with her alone, and then the other with her piano teacher, Debbi (she is so awesome)!
Shaelyn loves her teacher and loves playing the piano. She has been taking lessons for about a month now.

I hope you enjoy

Snow Day

So we had a snow day in January, okay okay, I have a lot of catching up to do. Anyway here are some pictures from the day. Shaelyn loved it! She was constantly wanting to go out in the snow. Winston enjoyed it for about 30 seconds and he was done, he especially didn't like the snow fight that Shaelyn wanted to have with him. I think it was the snowball(snow dust) to the face that put him over the edge and said he wanted to go back in. Here is Shaelyn having so much fun, and Winston not wanting to pose for the picture that Mommy is making him do. So when you think of snow, what comes to your mind? Snow angels of course, we tried to make a snowman but the snow wasn't sticky enough. There was no way Winston was going to lay down in the snow.
I think we have a natural. It was great to get some snow. We hadn't had any snow that actually stuck since the first year we lived here.

Disney World Day 3, Animal Kingdom, December 12, 2008

We went to the Animal Kingdom on our last day. It was such a fun experience. Okay, so the coolest thing that happened to us while we were there was that we got to stay in the park an extra hour after it was closed. How cool is that? Disney World was celebrating a year of a million dreams, and they gave some passes to a family of 6 so that they could stay and hour late, but they planned to go to a different park that same day and weren't able to use them and just happened to be in line with Walter and the subject came up. They offered their passes to us and who knew that it would be the right number of passes. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Anyway, it was a pretty sweet treat, the big rides were all open and some of the shows. Below is a picture of Shaelyn hanging out on a bike that was in the park. Here are some pics of the animals we saw in a walk through.

At first I thought this tiger was fake because he was sitting there so perfectly. I think he just likes to show off.

This isn't a very good picture but it is a picture of some beautiful ducks that were swimming around. This was in the aviary, were they had lots of exotic birds, they were all beautiful!
So these next pictures are from the African Safari Ride you can go on. The only problem is that the vehicle we were in didn't stop at all so it was very hard to take a steady picture.
We were in the back of the vehicle so I was able to get some pictures out the back.

I think those are rhinos, Winston was having a great time on the ride, he LOVES animals.
This is how unwild these animals are, they were sitting right next to road and didn't budge.
This next picture is probably my most favorite that I captured of all the animals, I think giraffes are so beautiful.
That is the end of the pictures, sometime I forget I have a camera and miss a big portion of the day. Sorry!
